The Working Principle of Chamfering Machine

A chamfering machine is a special equipment that cuts the end of metal pipes and bars through tools to form smooth bevels (chamfers). Its working principle revolves around four core links: positioning, clamping, cutting, and unloading. Different types of chamfering machines have slight differences in specific execution methods, but the core logic is consistent. First, the positioning link. The workpiece enters the equipment through a feeding mechanism (such as roller feeding, manipulator feeding, etc.), and the positioning device accurately determines the processing position to ensure that the chamfer size meets the requirements. The positioning accuracy directly affects the final processing effect. Dexing Machinery's chamfering machine adopts a high-precision positioning sensor, and the positioning error can be controlled within ±0.01mm. Second, the clamping link. After the workpiece is positioned, the clamping mechanism (hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical clamping) quickly fixes the workpiece to prevent displacement and vibration during processing and avoid chamfer deviation; for workpieces of different diameters, the clamping force can be flexibly adjusted to ensure firm fixation and prevent damage to the workpiece surface. Then, the cutting link, which is the core workflow of the chamfering machine. The motor drives the spindle to drive the tool to rotate at high speed, and at the same time, the tool or workpiece moves according to the preset trajectory to cut the end of the workpiece; according to processing needs, the chamfer angle (common 45°, 30°, 60°) and chamfer width can be controlled by adjusting the tool speed and feed rate. The fully automatic chamfering machine can realize multi-process continuous cutting through the PLC control system without manual intervention. Finally, the unloading link. After cutting, the clamping mechanism is released, and the unloading device pushes the processed workpiece to the discharge port to complete the entire chamfering process. In addition, some high-end chamfering machines are also equipped with a cooling system, which sprays cooling fluid during the cutting process to reduce tool temperature, reduce wear, and clean cutting chips to improve the surface finish of processing.
